My cat (not purring)

New Book Alert…

I have written a short story for this collection of lockdown-inspired Lucy Wilson short stories. Available now for pre-order, and will be released in two weeks! The royalties from sales will be donated to #NHS charities and Candy Jar will double this amount! How amazing is that!

An extract taken from the press release:

Our only female writer for this collection is Cherry Cobb, who successfully contributed to last year’s Christmas Crackers anthology. She says: “When Shaun asked me to write ‘Flower Power’ for this book I leapt at the opportunity, firstly because I can’t think of a better cause than raising money for the NHS and, secondly, I know that lockdown is proving a challenge for many children and adults. Reading is a great way to relax and escape from reality for a time, and with Lucy Wilson by your side you can be sure of so many great adventures along the way.”

Earth is in #lockdown, but for Lucy Wilson staying home doesn’t mean staying safe. Dinosaurs, killer plants, even Meme Lords – some enemies just don’t respect social distancing. A great read for adults and children alike.

Book Festival

And so the season begins! I love going to book festivals, so it’s a complete honour when I’m invited to take part in them. The best part is chatting with kids about the books they read, and what makes them choose them. Is it cover design? The blurb? Or have they heard of the author from someone else. Reading for pleasure is a lifelong habit and one which should be encouraged. Our libraries are doorways to other worlds, a safe space, and are free! Now you can’t get better than that!

Looking forward to meeting the other authors taking part and to meeting new readers!

2020…

Sometimes it’s hard to believe in yourself, but believe I must. On that note I’m going to pick an inspirational quote for every month of 2020. To kick off January 2020 I have chosen a quote from Elenor Roosevelt.

‘It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.’

Admittedly I have shortened the quote and am using it out of context, but it’s meaningful to me and hopefully to all of you reading this blog.

Best wishes and Happy New Year!

Short Story Release

I’m thrilled to have a short story released in this Christmas book! The Lucy Wilson Mysteries, filled with monsters, aliens, mayhem and adventure.

The Lucy Wilson Mysteries is a Lethbridge-Stewart spin-off adventure inspired by characters created for Doctor Who by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln. This anthology has five stories by a range of 5 different authors. You can read my press release below:

The Mobile Army, written by popular children’s author Cherry Cobb. She says: “I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to write a Lucy Wilson story, having read the books I fell in love with Lucy as a strong independent character who isn’t afraid to stand up for her beliefs. I hope my daughter grows up to have the same outlook on life.”

Available now from Candy Jar Books, Amazon and all good retailers. A great Christmas present for kids and adults alike.

A Day Out…

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, I’ve been kept busy with a couple of exciting writing projects!

However, I managed to sneek off to Cardiff for the day to promote Will’s War with my publisher.
